Lander Credit Courses

Prospective students have the ability to earn bachelor’s of applied science and associate’s degrees as well as  certificates in a variety of fields of study through a combination of classes offered at CWC Lander, Alpine Science Institute and/or hybrid /online.

BACHELOR OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREES

ASSOCIATE DEGREES

  • Criminal Justice* – Interdisciplinary in nature, this program draws on courses in communications, sociology, law and political science in addition to the requisite criminal justice courses.
  • English* – Sharpen your analytical abilities, broaden your literary knowledge and improve your writing skills.
  • Early Childhood Education* – Prepares students to work with infants and children through the age of eight in a variety of settings.
  • Entrepreneurship* – Enhances skills to develop, launch and grow new business ventures.
  • Expedition Science – This unique degree integrates scientific research, field-based expeditions, and leadership development through experiential learning.
  • Geospatial Information Science and Technology – Harness the power of satellite imagery, 3D mapping and computer science to collect data and analyze features on the earth’s surface.
  • Interdisciplinary Studies* – Offer students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree offered at four-year institutions, including the University of Wyoming. 
  • Meta Major –  Business* – Allows students to explore the different functional areas of the business world including accounting, economics, ethics, management, and marketing to make a more informed career choice.
  • Meta Major – Social Science* – Multi-disciplinary program provides a strong introduction to core Social Sciences and related areas.
  • Outdoor Education and Leadership – Combines wilderness expeditions and outdoor skills courses with natural history and a liberal arts curriculum.
  • Outdoor Recreation – Learn about the business and entrepreneurial side of the outdoor recreation service industry through the Outdoor Recreation program.
  • Pre-Legal Studies* – Be exposed to a broad overview of U.S. law while providing the groundwork and educational foundation for a degree in law.
  • Psychology* – Psychology is the science of how people think, feel, act and interact. It’s a field that is wide open for exploration. 
  • Secondary Education* – Provides students with a solid base of academic experiences and allows for the additional study of the subject areas that are being prepared for at the middle and high school levels.
  • Regenerative Food Systems – Develop the skills necessary to operate a small, diversified fruit and vegetable farm.

CERTIFICATES

  • Accounting and Bookkeeping* – Get practical preparation for a career in bookkeeping.
  • Community Food Systems – Provides the student with small-scale, diversified fruit and vegetable production skills, as well as the ability to explain how small farms are integrated into the broader local food and agriculture system.
  • Computer Technology* – A blend of computer networking, hardware, and software design.
  • EHS Expedition Science – Combines hands-on training in environmental and archaeological field and research skills, with techniques in outdoor leadership and geospatial information science and technology (GIST).
  • Electrical Apprenticeship* – Meets the related apprenticeship training requirements for the State of Wyoming, Department of Fire Prevention & Electrical Safety. 
  • Environmental Geospatial Information Science and Technology – Combines hands-on training in field methods and mapping with classroom instruction in environmental science.
  • Geospatial Information Science and Technology (Certificate I)* – emphasizes both the academic and technical skills required for the collection, analysis, and manipulation of geospatial data.
  • Geospatial Information Science and Technology (Certificate II)* – provides an introductory foundation in the academic and technical skills required for the collection, analysis and manipulation of geospatial data.
  • Mountain Bike Professional – integrates interpretive guide skills, Wilderness First Responder training and natural resource management with bike handling and mechanic skills.
  • Small-Scale Farm Management – designed to provide the student with small-scale, diversified fruit and vegetable production skills, as well as skills in business management to prepare the student to launch their own small-scale farm business.
  • Trailbuilding Professional – integrates field-based training using hand tools and heavy machinery with first responder training, geospatial information science and technology (GIST), natural resource management and business practices.
